all dice

Why do we use dice? The game is about building an adventure story with friends. The game master could just decide whether the proposed action of a player succeeds, or simply say: “You can’t do that.”

But that’s too easy — life throws curveballs, and the dice of fate affect us all.

So too are the player’s endeavors and the carefully laid plans of the game master subject to chance — and that unpredictability is what makes the game fun.

Beautiful Dice

  • Standard polyhedral (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20) — used by the granddaddy of all RPGs, Dungeons & Dragons™.
  • Percentile dice systems (d100) — used by Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay™ and BRP™; rolled with two d10s of different colors.
  • Fudge / Fate dice and others with custom symbols.
  • Dragon Dice — collectible, colorful, and thematic.

So why just three standard six-sided dice? Because they’re everywhere — your favorite pub probably has a set on hand, or you can grab some at the local convenience store. When the urge to game strikes, a handful of d6s are never far away.

And we are in good company some of the classics like Champions™ and Gurps™ used it for years

But if you and your party find yourselves caught upstream without any dice — don’t worry. The app can roll them for you! You’ll just have to live without the satisfying rattle of the real thing.
